shouldnt set of any codes, but you will need to run them off the pcm if you plan to have them turn on/off at certain temps. or you can rig up a switch to run them now. imo i would run them off the pcm and have a ground switch to override them when wanted. thats how mine are set up.

I just did mine and until i got my pcm I just touched the 12v ac wire with the 42pin wire and let them run the whole time until i got them in. No codes hell i didn't even take my other fan off until i got the pcm i was rollin with 3 fans lol.

tune is not required at all. autostores sell tstats for efans that go through the radiator.

Having the PCM tuned to turn on the fans is the best way IMO. The other options are 1) the aftermarket temp controllers (like the one made by Flex-A-Light), but they've been known to short and burn up pre-maturely, 2) a manual toggle switch that you control...but then you've got to really keep your eyes on your temp guage and be on your toes, or 3) wire the fans to run constantly which may make the engine take a long time to reach operating temp, and may cause the fan motor(s) to burn out pre-maturely from always being on, even when it isn't necessary.

Personally, I opted for having my PCM tuned and I'm very happy with the results.
