Obviously, in better conditions, they'd stay a little "pretty-er".

My truck is in pretty crappy conditions daily...

You can see mine a little bit on page 30, post #297, in the linked measurement pics. These headers did turn that rusty color in a year's time, actually 14 months so far on mine. Kinda like all factory stainless piping I've ever seen. Mine are probably in an environment that's worse than most. I'm in a "salt happy" State in the winter, where we had two back to back major snowstorms last year, and I work (and drive around in) a grungy steel mill with Lord knows what splashing up all over my undercarriage, lol.

got mine today!!
so i can expect 4-5hrs for this, i know, but is this something i can do in the parking lot without a real jack (all i have is the little stock tire-swapping one)?
i'm gonna delete the EGR, but i'll have to wait on the tune stuff to happen (upgrading my BB mail-order to a scan tune
) will it run fine in the mean time - like enough to get it home if i have to take it to a friend's house to work on it? also, i should be fine doing it by myself, right?

I have leveling kit...
BUT...
I am large person. lol
Is yours 4 wheel drive? If so, and you're average sized, you should be OK without jacking it up. If not, I wouldn't trust any sort of factory jack without a jackstand as a safety precaution.
An extra set of hands is always nice, but it's definitely a do-able job for 1 person.
It should run fine without the tune, but you'll probably get a catalytic converter code of some sort until you get them turned off.
Good Luck!

well that makes me feel better! i'm fixin to throw them on in the mornin while it's gonna almost be 70* outside
and yeah, it's 4x4, and i'm only 5'8"/155, so i fit under there pretty easy. i unbolted the manifolds for my engine swap without a jack, but i just didn't know if these headers would have room to go in. i'm on 265/75 tires, too, so that helps a little (not as much as the 285s i'm fixin to get, but oh well...)
took them out & inspected/bolted everything up & so far, so good. i bought a can of PB blast & have already doused the bolts twice today, with another bath coming in the morning. HOPEFULLY no breaking for me! that would SUCK cause i ain't got the tools to fix it!!
got a 1 3/8 freeze plug & a header block-off plate to delete my EGR, so that should complicate things less.
aww... i'm getting excited!

I think I'm going to get mine in today. My set had a couple of charcoal looking donut thingamajigs included, looks like they go at the first y pipe joints...what are these and do they need to be installed?
