Default Easiest way to remove water pump?

My dad's 04 Silverado has a leak at the water pump, so we are going to replace the gaskets and hope that takes care of the problem.

So, my question is the easiest way to remove the water pump? Do you guys go at it from the top, bottom? What has to be removed in order to get the pump out?

Thanks in advance!
AJ

It's real easy, especially if you're just replacing the gasket so not all the hose have to come off. When I swapped cams that was almost the first thing off the motor. I did it from the top starting with the fan shroud and fan(if you have e-fans then they'll be fine where they are). Then you have easy access to the bolts. Good luck, and post up any questions.

We did it today and it was pretty easy. And the truck has 37,000 miles, how convenient is that? haha

And is was the gasket that was leaking, had a spot where the rubber had moved out of place.

thanks for all the help!

I had already prepared myself for that type of answer for asking such a simple question on a forum like this! lol

And we tried two different dealers to get it replaced under "goodwill" and neither of the two would do anything about it. So much for customer appreciation!
