I currently have dual pipes out the back, but am seriously considering cutting them off and dumping the exhaust right after the muffler. I'm running a flowmaster 40 with edelbrock shorties. Now to my question, if I do this, will the resonance inside the cab be horrible? I know a few of you guys have done this and I would like to know your opinions.

the resonance will be dreadfull, especaily if you go on long trips, around town if you keep in 3rd gear wont be that bad. Hell just ask 02denali when i had my 40's dumped lol he wouldn't even ride in my truck lol

Is it a 2 chamber or delta flow(3 chamber) ? I have the orginal 40 series, 2 out dumped with 4 inch tips. The tips will make a much deeper tone. Resonance isn' that bad. It humms at on the highway at certain speeds and kinda makes you fall asleep. but otherwise I've just gotten compliments. Plus tailpipes look tacky

it's not that bad. i had two chamber 40's on my 408 for a short time and it wasn't that bad. it was even tamer with the old 4.8.
here's a suggestion, cut the exhaust (very cleanly-ie no torch) off behind the muffler where you would want to put your turndowns, and drive it. if you don't like it, weld it back up. if you do like it, put on the turndowns and be done.

mine is pretty loud inside the cab. really bad at 70-75 on the highway, but it sure sounds good when you get onit. i am thinking about when i get my headers and new cat running pipes to the side of the truck to try to soften the rumble

I've got 2 40 series and dumped mine right after them. Put an x pipe in front and the resonance is not near as bad as it was with the tail pipe. I was surprised. Now it just rumbles and I get more compliments then before. Here's a pic:

I have mine done on my hd exactly like pictured above with delta flow 40's without the x pipe and at 60 you can hardly even tell its there, at 70 there is a very mellow tone but again, hardly even there. If you stomp on it it screams.
