Default would A Stock 5.3 w/ radix really benifit from Duals

My 2003 GMC stock 5.3 will be getting a Dual system from an Silverado SS soon. I'm doing this so I don't regret getting a single setup when a dual setup bolts right up. getting her ready for down the road, radix ot 6.0 etc..

I have the 6.0l manifolds and Dual Catpipes already. I'm just waiting on buying a Catback.
Prolly the Dual exit Magnaflow but might be able to swing the Billy Boat dual rear exit. I love the Billy boat on my stepside but its alot more $ than the magnaflow. The Magnaflow is 2.5 dual out the back and the Billy boat is dual 2.5 to the muffler than dual 2.25 out the back. Regardless, there both great systems IMO.

I need the costly stainless for the salt and custom shops that deal with stainless are non existent around here so thats out. I priced out buying premade mandrel bends and stait pipe in 304 and it came out to be more than the magnaflow.

Never having duals on my stepside what should I expect on the virgin Sierra.
Is this overkill with the exhaust for now.

You dig what I'm trying to do.

Thanks

The attachted pics are Marcw- SS with the Billy boat and the other pic is my stock Z71.

haha.

You're putting a SS's 6.0L dual exhaust, onto a Sierra 6.0L and you are concerned with it being overkill?

I wouldn't think so.

Thanks,

Thats what I figured,
Dealing with exhaust mods before and doing 4 differant systems on my Stepside I wanted to get the GMC right the first time around. Considering how sensitive these 5.3 to catbacks can be.

So far its been inexpensive and relatively easy getting Stock SSS parts thanks to KlugsSS and therock.

just out of curiousity, why are you putting the radix on the GMC instead of the chevy. I thought I read in one of your posts that you weren't going to mess with the GMC. BTW both your trucks look really good.

Blown04, very nice truck
Why not radix on Both ...LOL,
Seriously,
I really don't want to f*ck with the 99 Stepside anymore. Its running great, I just got hid's for it and throwing a mild system in it. I drove it all of about 3000 miles last year. I don't want it to spend 3/4 of the year in the garage being modded again. I want to drive it this year.

I also look at the Step side as a 5 year testing ground. I tried a ton of products and have developed preferences now. I look at the GMC as another Family airloom because I owe more on the GMC than its worth it's in mint condition. I also drive it everyday.
Money provided I want to throw a radix or 6.0 on it and be done with it, No stall, no cam, no gears etc..
If I had my way I would of bought a VHO but I really need 4wd up here during the winter and they don't sell them up here.

I started off just wanting a Catback for the GMC until it mushroomed.
I was also thinking skip the intake, skip the catback and headers and try the STS but the salt would destroy it up here. I don't care what its coated with.
20 below with 5 lbs of frozen salt hanging off of it can't be good.

Thanks for the compliments. I think if I had to choose between mine and yours, i think yours looks better . If I can make a recommendation, go with the radix instead of the 6.0 (that is if money is not playing a large part in it). I think you will be very happy with the end result in power and excellent reliability. My dad has 20,000 fairly hard miles on his radix'd SS and we have not even had one minor problem. Good luck with which ever route you take
