Crank pulley/dampner questions - what brand?
I was using the ASP crank pulley for years on my truck with the set-up in my sig, motor went out and I sold it after reading bad stuff with 25% underdrive crank pulleys on 4.000" stroke.
My new motor I wanna go with something either stock size or 10% underdrive. Was thinking ATI 10% or stock SFI certified professional products pulley that's a whole lot less expensive. My engine builder told me they had very bad experiences the professional products dampners on the older small block chevys and fords.
Anybody had experience with these 2? I know ATI is one of the best, trying not to spend a bunch of money on just a crank pulley though!

I personally run a ATI damper on my 600+ racecar that runs in the 9's with no problems. A quality damper really does alot besides acting like a counterweight (depending on your balance) and does "absorb" the frequencies that are harmful to your engine- they also keep the crank from "noodling" at higher rpm's (you'll never see this with your engine) but its like everything else in the speed game- you get what you pay for.
You can get a New TCI balancer for under 500- its not that bad.
The 1,000+hp SAM Racing Camaro that runs in the 8.23 zone all motor turning 9,600rpm uses a "off the shelf" TCI balancer. They really are great dampers.
