Default Cool "little" things I like about my Avalanche.

Cool "little" things I like about my Avalanche.

1. Self dimming rear veiw mirrow.(std)
2. An alarm that sounds when the turn signal is on too long. (std)
4. A huge lighted cargo bed that doesnt have any "wheel wells" protruding into it. (std)
5. Self leveling rear shocks. (Z66)
6. Locking storage compartments on the bed sides. (std)
7. Removable, bed heavy duty bed lining.(std)
8. Cup holders in the tail gate.(std)
9. Huge in the cab cup holders.(std)
10. CD player(std)
11. Electric seats(std)
12. Rear window defroster.(std)
13. These kick *** sun visors that extend out to the side if you want. And if you move them to the side window.. there is ANOTHER one behind the first one that you can put down for to ALSO cover the front windshield.(std)
14. Adjustable dimming vanity mirrors on both sides.(std)
15. In the rear veiw mirror, there is a compass and a ambient temp gauge. (std)
16. Trailoring package (std)
17. EXTRA deep floor mats to hold mud/water in them so they wont get on the carpet. (Z66)
18. Limo tint rear windows (std)
19. 373 gears (std)
20. 5.3 ltr LS1 motor (std)
21. Built in theft alarm with car finding feature in the "key fob". (std)
22. 31.6 inch tall tires. 265/70/17's
23. Ability to go from a HIGE truck to a HUGE SUV.
24. Side impact air bags.
25. Premium "On Road Suspension". This thing eats up the bumps.. SERIOUSLY, RR tracks, pot holes, etc.. you dont even feel them. (Z66)
26. A timer on the under hood light... if you leave up the hood, it turns off the light after a while. That is so freaking fine. That one I have never even heard of. (std)
27. Aiming overhead interior lights. You can aim them to light up where ever you want them to instead of turning on that huge *** bright *** dome light. (It has one of those too) (std)
28. Hand holds to climb up into the bed.. or on it. (std)
29. A three piece removable HARD bed cover that can support 250 pounds on each of the three pieces. (std)
30. Three auxilary power out lets (std)
31. Ability to lock the windows from the drivers side. (std)
32. The set belts have this little clip on them that allows young (short) folks to lower the belt where it crosses their body. My 6 year old REALLY likes that feature. It's no fun having a belt that crosses your body across your face. (std)
33. Cruise, intermittant wipers (std)
34. Tow/haul mode. This firms up the shifts and moves the shift points up higher to aid in preserving the life of the tranny and pulling loads. (std)
35. Traction control. This feature cuts power to the drivetrain when wheel spin is detected. Not mechanicaly, but electronicaly.
36. Pockets behind the front seats. (std)
37. Locking tailgate (std)
38. Heated/defrosting side mirrors when the rear window defroster is turned on. (std)
39. Power side mirrors, that are foldable, heated, body color and light up the ground when you get out of the truck.(std)
40. Step built into both sides of the rear bumper. (std)
41. Dual Halogen light bulbs. (BRIGHT!!)(std)
42. Two assist handles for the passenger side. (std)
43. Map lights in rear seats. (std)
44. Leather wrapped steering wheel. (std)

..Man, thats all I can come with off the top of my head.

It's not an Escalade EX.. but for 26.8K, it's pretty cool. (IMO)

Thats some list. You are either trying to make yourself like that thing or it is one hell of a ride. I like the Av too. I saw one at a show a year before they were released and wanted one. My wife told me that the truck I have is perfectly fine..... What does she know.

A lot of those things Chevy has had in their SUV's for the longest time.

1) That's been standard on uplevel LS and LT trim for about 6 years.
2) Got that from the Caprice/Impala crowd.
3) You left this one blank
13) They've been doing that since 1993
15) Up until 97 it was just a compass, in 98 they added the temp
26) As well as the interior lights. The one thing they don't have anymore is the underhood light on a retractable sting like the 88 C/K series had.
30) Had that since 94
31) I think every GM vehicle (except F-body) has this.

A few things that you didn't mention and perhaps the Avalanche doesn't have that other GM SUV's have is;

-The remote door lock switch in the rear cargo area where you can unlock (or lock) the truck while loading it out back.

-Dome override switch which shuts your dome lights off if you plan on having the doors open a long time.

-Ratcheting headrests (on new Silverado's, Tahoe's, 'Burban's and Avalanche's).

-Center console that comes apart inside so you can make more space inside it if you need it.

-Removable rubber cup holder liners and coin tray liners that are dishwasher safe.

-Integrated "home-link" programmable garage door transmitter in o/h console.
-Dual zone climate controls (all Suburban's and 98+ Tahoe/Yukons)

-Intermittant Delay rear wiper. In addition in the Blazer, if you leave your wiper on when you pop your hatch, it has this cool feature that drops the wiper back into it's rest position then pops the rear window. Once the window is closed, the wiper returns to it's on position.

-On Blazer's rear fold down seat, there is a filler panel that flips down to cover the gap left between the seat back and cargo floor when folded. This makes a convient storage area. Chevy also put little tabs on that flip down panel that if you drop the tabs down, will keep the panel propped open while you take stuff in and out of that space and/or vacuum it. On fullsize trucks and SUV's, when you flip the back down, the headrests slide out and then you can re-insert them into stationary holes in the seat bottom (which is flipped upright) to store them.

-Don't forget about the tire change kit which include some custom embroidered "GM" gloves to keep you hands clean.

At least those are all I can think of right now.

6.0L with the option of the 8.1 is only available on 2500 Avalanche's. John has a half ton I believe.

First off, kind of cool, this is the oldest thread bump I have ever seen. Not talking ****, but wow, the last time this was updated, it was definitely on dial up.

when it comes to the tent, this wasn’t a factory option was it? You’re talking aftermarket?

Hilarious. I too, own an Avalanche. Most useful truck I've ever owned. All my chains, straps, tire repair, hornet spray, rags, gloves, trailer grease, bungee cords, trailer hitch, tape measure, hammer, baseball bat, and jumper cables fit in the toolboxes with room to spare and they're not flopping around the bed or stuffed dirty underneath the seat. I can fit 12" boards, plywood, sheets of drywall in the back with the seat folded down. Mine is an '08 with 180k on it. 5.3 ate a cam bearing so a 6.0 went in and then lost 2nd and 4th gear shortly after so I think it's time to retire this thing. I'm asking too much of it. I don't want to mess with anymore transmissions. ha
