Ive heard of guys running the engine in for 15-20 mins like ur builder says @
idle???? Me personally i would never do that on the count of u only get one shot at seating ur rings so on that note from my experiance i would run regular motor oil and break the engine in under load!!! when a engine is idling
the rings excert no force on the cylinders so they are just along for the
ride which is not a good thing because without load your not forcing the
rings out toward the cylinder walls under pressure which in turn causes the rings to seal in some places and leak in others because u dont have the rings
expanding evenly without load so first start-up after a rebuild is critical! get
in it and drive it. For example after I rebuild any engine I drive it under load
to about 50MPH for about the same amount of time as ur builder recommended the only diff. is im doing it under load and dont b afraid to
downshift it some as well this creates a vacuum in the cylinders to suck those
nasty metal shavings back into the crankcase. Try it see if ur numbers are alot higher as long as the machinist did his job correctly!

Well I got everything back together and put some miles in it - i think 60 or so. No codes or anything either...
Thing runs great - there is no hesitation or nothing. I plan on doing the oil change this week so I will re-check the compression and see what I've got. Oh BTW, 2 of those miles are 1/4 runs. I was not impressed with the times, but I am out of practice and I think the tune is a bit off....gotta call nelson on monday.
