Default compression

Has anyone milled their heads on a 99+ to get a higher compression ratio, like 10.5-11.0? Would something like this even be worth doing?

Default Re: compression

Its going to take more than milling the heads to get compression up past 10.5:1. To get that high, you will need to get flat top pistons and head work.

Milling the 5.3 head .030 will yield a compression ratio just about 10:1. Milling .050 will be about 10.3:1. I think that milling .050 is too much anyway. At some point, you run the risk of throwing off your valvetrain geometry and making the intake manifold difficult to seal properly.

To answer your question, I don't know of anyone on here who has milled their heads for large compression. Higher compression will require higher octane, but will make more power.
