How about this ... get the headers since that's something simple to do and doesn't require tuning and all that. Once you get ready to do something else, get a converter and put it in. Have a shift kit and servos done shortly after. While you are doing all this, it will help you decide on what you want to do as far as a cam goes. That will also give you time to read up on it and make a more educated decision on what you want rather than trying to decide from 5 different uggestions from 5 different people.

I will say this about cams though. The lower LSA (112, 114, 115, 116, etc) the choppier it is going to idle. This will also move your power band up. If you ever plan on going boosted, don't go less than a 114. The split duration cams (212/218, 218/224, etc) will also give you a choppier idle, also meaning non-split cams (212/212, 218/218, 224/224, etc) will give you a smoother idle at the same LSA than a split cam would. The bigger the split the choppier the idle. I wouldn't go with anything over .560 lift if you want it to be streetable and not have any problems out of springs.

i also like the z06 cam, but a buddy of mine has one in his 4.8 ext cab truck and it runs about the same as it did stock...BUT it has stock manifolds and shitty exhaust and my old UPD and that's it. if that z06 cam made 36rwhp, but lost 5rwtq then i really don't think it's that great of a choice for a truck that needs more torque to get it going.
