i guarantee that cam will run with stock tune, and it will run fine once you adjust the throttlebody, if any of you local guys don't think so then come out to azle and i'll show you a 00 5.3 with more cam in it than MOST fbody 5.7s do and it runs GREAT WITH STOCK TUNE. just don't be scared to have to do a little adjusting and you'll be fine. i love my 112 LSA cam.

See this is a good example of how he thinks. 1st he hasnt ever rode in my truck to know how it runs 2. He assumes his runs better with out know at all how mine runs. 3 he thinks all you have to do is throw in a big cam to make the most power with out matching the motor to the cam.

There are a lot of EXTERNAL bolt-ons you can do before you go inside the motor. Headers, Cold Air, Cat-back exhaust, gutted cats, ASP pulley as well as many free DIY mods. After you do that stuff you can do the cam. I did mine in steps, but if I had it to do over I would do all the inside stuff at once. Cam, double chain, ported pump, roller rockers, rods, springs and if you can afford it do the heads at the same time. If you havn't done the ASP pulley by the time you do the cam swap this would be the time to do it. The ASP is one of the best improvments for the cost.

Yes bigger cams can make more power, when applied to the right application. most large cams require a gear to back them up. Why you ask! because the more of the power curve. More duration is going to move the power band higher through the rpms range { higher} . Look in a cam chart. The bigger the cam the higher the rpm has to be before the cam really starts working for what it is designed for. Bigger cams need more things to make them work the way they should like compression, headers, stall, and gears. Also tuning is a major factor as well. Alos unless you have those heads on your truck your not going to edge me yet on Power
