Yup... blower/ballast resistor.

Cheap fix... not too hard, but not the easiest thing. It's just hard to get to on some vehicles.

So how do you fix. My brother's 97 has been messed up for like a year. We always take his truck wherever we go and we are tired of only having "off" or "freeze your nuts off"

On my 99 it's under the dash, right by the blower motor, not sure if 98's the same. Most manufacturers put them by the blower motor and use the air from the motor to cool the resistor. It will have a couple of wires going to it and will probably be held in with 1 or 2 7mm or 5.5mm screws. The resistor on my 99 has 7 wires going to it. Hope this helps.

....poop
