Default Burnt CA cats 2008 chevy 5.3?

So i had a E3 plug go bad on me this weekend and i think driving my truck home 40 miles on 7 cylinders burnt one or both of my cats. It is very sluggish and today I got a p0420 code. What do i do? The dealer is going to laugh with all my mods, they will never warranty it. I live in CALIFORNIA and cant seem to find new ones. I dont know even know if thast the problem.

Can i hollow out the old ones for now and delete the rear o2 sensors??
I think i have till 2012 to smog it.
I maybe able to find some at a junkyard?

Bring me some good ideas, cheap ideas!!!

Thanks gregg

Ps Thanks Chevy for putting TWO converters on my truck!! F$#!ers!!

i vote to get rid of the cats and have the codes disabled in the tune

and i would think that if with yer mods yer still able to smog it, than they are big enough mods
for a dealer to turn down replacing them, but im not sure...what are your mods?

Your gonna have a hard time getting new cats since its illegal now to buy/sell any aftermarket cat in CA unless there the CA cats which are really expensive.

I would vote on getting rid of them and hoping you dont get caught.

First what mods do you have? Are they easily removable? Emissions equipment is federally mandated to have an 8 year 80,000 mile warranty. If the cats go bad they have to replace them. California code requires a vehicle to have a smog check only after the first 6 years of ownership from new. If you bought in 2008, you're good till 2014.

I gutted the cats and had the rear o2 sensors removed from my computer. All fixed now!

X2. First problem was using those plugs when yours are good for 100,000 miles and E3 provide no benefit.
