Default Broke Crank Bolt

So pretty much the worst thing that could happen did. When I was starting my cam swap yesterday while I was removing the crank bolt it snapped in half. So what are my options? Can it be drilled out? Do I have to pull the crank and have a machine shop try and remove it? Or is it pretty much screwed and I need a new crank?

How in the world does a hardened bolt of that size twist off? Did you install it with red Loctite?

Beats me. It started to come out then it got really tight and then snapped. No loctite at all.

Sounds like it was cross-threaded.

I had the same thing happen with arp bolt. I had to replace the crank because it was to hard to drill out in the truck. To replace crank in the truck isn't to bad it just sucks.
