Are bigger injectors any good if you are not running a FI setup..... If they are what is the reason for using them without FI.... Can you get any HP out of them???

On the SS's they just about max out their injectors with a catback, cai, and a tune. Anything more than that and you really are maxing them out. I am sure that a bolt-on 5.3 with a good cam would be maxing theirs out too.

Injectors will allow you to make HP, they don't per say add HP.

Like stated above. Most of our cars/trucks are close to maxing the stock injectors right out of the factory.

Add something big like a cam, headers and tuning and you'll usually be ready for new injectors if you did everything right and are over 300rwhp. You really don't HAVE to have them at 300rwhp but it's a good idea. Once over 350rwhp you really do need them IMO.

Also, if you plan on running a dry nitrous kit you will need bigger injectors also.

It's all about keeping the duty cycle down to about 80% or so for safety reasons. So if you are worried about your setup simply start datalogging and if you are running 95%+ then you may want to think about injectors before your next big mod

Yeah, I'm working my injectors to the 95-98% DC range. (I forget exactly right now).

F8L summed it up real good there...

After doing the LS1-if I do anymore major mods,headwork,LT's,etc... I will need bigger injectors. So Im real close to needing bigger injectors and I might go ahead and do it for the hell of it because Im I will have to very soon anyway!

2 weeks after the cam install I got my updated tune and that night the 4.8 went to rest(destroyed a piston-N/A too!). So 3 days later I get the LS1 in and running and it ate up the cam a little bit but I could still feel it. 4 days after I get the LS1 which was last Monday I get a nasty knock so it has been out of service since then.So i got 2 weeks of the cam untuned and then 4 days of the cam in the LS1 tuned. So I havent gotten a real good feel for it yet!

I should have it back running tomorrow or Wed! It looks like a small piece of metal(maybe from the TR-6 when the 4.8 blew and got stuck in the heads somehow??????????? or when the heads were at the machine shop something got caught in there) was hitting the pistons and scarred them up a little bit causing a God aweful knocking. The 2 damaged pistons are salvagable so I guess im happy. I deserve some good luck!
