anyone put a converter in a 5.3 1/2 ton.

I saw were slp had a coverter that was about a 2600 stall. It claims better pulling and all around performance.I know they help on an f-body. Is this true for trucks too.I would think so.Just wondering how much it would gain in 1/4 and 60ft.I have 3.73 and posi singlecab.

The stall will all depend on what you want to do. 1/4 mile or towing or a combo. I myself am going to get a Yank truck thruster 3000. That will retain the stock towing capacity and get me about .4 to .5 sec in the 1/4. Check the Yank and TByrne sites on this board. There is a lot of good info there. Just don't confuse a car T/C for a truck T/C they are different sizes. A 2800 stall on a car may equate to about 3200 on a truck. The cars are something like 9.5" and the truck is 11".

I installed a Yank 3200 in my truck as well. I also did it on my own with the help of a friends shop. It wouldn't be the easiest thing to do in your driveway though.
So far I am very happy with the converter. But I am yet to have some times with it in.

Actually the Yank truck thruster is the same as the stealth thruster for the cars. Same exact part.
F-body part:
YANK STEALTH THRUSTER 2800 (278mm, 2800 stall, 2.10 STR) $650 introductory price
truck part:
YANK TRUCK THRUSTER 2600 stall, (4.8, 5.3L only) (278mm, 2600 stall, 2.10 STR) $650 introductory price

Yea, I was talking about a Vig 2800. They are smaller. Someone had one from an F-body for sale a while back and I called P.I. about how it would work to the truck and they said NO WAY, It would be to loose because of the weight diff and would stall at 3200 or higher. The only thing P.I will do for the truck is take yours and modify it. So I'm going with the Yank.

I have a PI VIG "3500" and it foot brakes to 3000, flashes to 3500 on the motor and 4000 on a 130 HP nitrous shot. The converter only allows for a 1600 RPM drop between gears on nitrous...
I love it and would not consider any other converter. I had orginally installed the Yank TT 3200 but was not impressed as the truck didn't foot brake as advertised (only got 2900-3000) and would only flash to 3500 on the nitrous. It seemed to exibit some lock-up issues in OD at low rpm. It just would stay locked.
