I can't understand for the life of me why some people want to run a somewhat restrictive exhaust on their vehicles. I see so many posts where people want to port their T-body, descreen their MAF, mod their air box, change wires, experiment with spark plug gap, switch to electric fans, basically do everything they can to tweak every bit of HP out of their ride, then not open their exhaust up. I am building a dual 3" for my truck now, and just removed the stock single 3". Heck I run dual 3.5's on my car. I say run the least restrictive the exhaust that your final HP goals will support. If you may run FI 2 years down the road build for it the first time so you don't have to do it again. Just my $.02.

least restrictive isn't always the biggest though. don't get those confused. i also don't believe in the "an engine needs backpressure to run right" mantra either. gotta keep exhaust flow fast enough for good scavenging while not increasing backpressure so its always a balance. as is in many things, bigger is definitely not always better.

i run dual 2.5 inch with a x-pipe dumped at the rear axle. Dual bullet mufflers with obx headers in my 05 ss with a 224r cam. Not a big believer in single exhaust but some are. I run duals just becuase i feel its less restrictive then all the exhuast scavaging into one pipe. Just my 2 cents. But i have buddies who run single 3 inch also so its up to u bro!!!
