any difference in 4.8l heads and 5.3L heads?

Default any difference in 4.8l heads and 5.3L heads?

title says it all guys. is there any difference in the 4.8L heads compared to the 5.3L heads. thnaks alot. larry

the compression ratio would be different because of the difference in bore size 4.8 should raise compression slightly on a 5.3

ok, so i could put 4.8 L heads on my camaro (2001) and they would be better then the 5.3 L heads?
are the vlaves and stuff like that the same?

The 4.8 and 5.3 have the same compression, the only difference in the 2 motors is the rod length and the crank stroke.

I think the 4.8's and 5.3's have a different casting number. Some of you guys with a 4.8, look at the casting numbers and see if they are #706. I have a 5.3 and mine are #862. The last set of #706's I had, 4.8 was stamped on the bottom where the lifters go.

as for the heads, the numbers on my '02 4.8 yesterday were 862, and they were stamped 4.8. however the numbers on my buddy's '01 4.8 we pulled 2 weeks ago were 706. did the numbers change for the model year or something?
