The stock air box flows more CFM than the engine will consume as it is. An open element gauze cone filter on the end of K&N FIPK air intake will just suck up hot air and you wont see any horsepower increase. I like the stock air box because it draws air in from the other side of the fender...air not touched by the hot engine temps. I'd just do a drop in.

Cut the bottom out of your stock box.

Keep the paper filter. K&Ns are a waste.

Just make your own. Granted my truck isn't an nnbs, but I have ~$50 in mine thanks to ebay and such. UPD lid and tube, drop-in gauze filter, and drilled the bottom of my stock air box and plate underneath. Does the same trick as those $250 ones, but I didn't get any spiffy stickers along with mine.

But those K&N stickers are what makes the power! My sticker in the door jam alone, makes 16rwhp. I have another "Type-R" sticker on the windshield that makes 76rwhp.

I got the Air raid jr kit. The intake tube is quite an improvement over stock. I did the drop in and felt no increase in power. The I installed the tube a few days later, and you could really feel it kick in.
