This is what the maf "screen" is for. Putting the MAF as close as possible to the TB theoretically yields better throttle response because there is less lag between the time the throttle blade admits more air to the intake manifold, and the time more air begins to flow past the MAF sensor.
YOU MIGHT BE RIGHT ON SOME THINGS BUT I HAVE BEEN ON THE DYNO A FEW TIMES AND NEVER AT THE SAME TIME OF THE YEAR AND I KNOW THE WEATHER WAS NOT THE SAME IT NEVER IS AROUND HERE BUT IT HAS ALL WAYS DYNO THE SAME ARE WITH 2 OR 3 HPs AND ALL OF MY FRIENDS ARE ALSO RUNNING THEIR LIKE THIS AND ALL ARE PUTTING DOWN SOME GOOD NUMBERSS BOTH @ THE TRACK AND ON DYNO

Sorry, but that has to be the most retarded thing I have read here in a long time. You want the IAT sensor to read the ACTUAL temperature, not some temperature value that you arbitrarily set with a resistor.

WELL TO YOU IT MAY BE RETARDED TO YOU BUT IF IT TAKES ME DOWN 1320 FEET @ A TIME OF 12.59 WITH A CAM ONLY TRUCK THEN I GUESS YOU CAN CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT.BUT WE HAVE 9 TRUCK THEY ALL RACE @ WORK AND ALL HAVE THIS DONE AND ALL ARE PUTTING DOWN SOME GOOD TIMES SO YOU CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT.

I believe that you could see gains in some situations with the comptuer "fooled" into richening/leaning the fuel mix with an IAT resistor, but in the long run without knowing all the consequences, it's best to just give the PCM the information it expects. Sort of like re-using the factory TTY head bolts might seem like a fine idea and no problems will crop up for a while, heck it may be fine for the life of the engine, in the long run there may be unintended consequences. Back to our IAT example, long-term running rich may clog your cats or carbon up your heads prematurely.

I am new to the Gen III stuff and all, but when I ran my Mustang, what we did is run our Coolant temp Sensor plug into the intake manifold (so it would not leak coolant), but take ANOTHER Coolant temp Sensor and plug the harness into it, and just set it off to the side of the motor. So basically the sensor would only get to outside temp instead of reading the coolant temp, and the computer would think it was still in "warm up" mode, and would run rich, and we could throw more timing into the motor to compensate for the extra fuel. Seemed to be worth some power.
