Default Advice Needed: Swapping Knock Sensors, Cam Position Sensor, Gen IV to Gen III

I'm starting to swap parts from my LS2 into my LR4. I have a question about the knock sensors that maybe someone could chime in and help me with that has done Gen III vs Gen IV block swaps.

The location of the knock sensors on the LS2 are down low on the block. The knock sensor location on the LR4 are in the lifter valley on the top of the block.

Is there an issue with using my gen IV knock sensors off the LS2 and putting them into a different location on the LR4? If there is an issue is it something I can fix using HPTuners?

My other issue is I want to swap the LS9 cam into the LR4 block. The Camshaft Position Sensor on the LR4 is at the top rear of the block, but on the LS2 and other Gen IV's it's in the front cover.

In order to use the LS9 camshaft would it be fine to use the front cover/cam sprockets off the LS2 and plug the hole where the Gen III sensor would be?

Thanks

Racetronix makes harnesses to help with that

You might need to drill and tap threads for the knock sensors and then use a LS2 style valley pan, but it can be done.

Why not use a conversion harness?

If I recall correctly, the sensors are different diameters.

Not a bad idea. I think I'll drill and tap the ls2 valley cover, tie up the harness to shorten it, then connect the knock sensors. Hopefully it won't effect the harmonic sensing...

when i went from a 5.3 to a ls2 I just used the 5.3 knock sensors and re-wired them to down on the side of the ls2 and didn't have any issues. but I'm not sure if it would work vise versa

The good thing, I suppose, is I can drill and tap the correct size into the valley cover. I'm not sure how bad this will effect the sensors effectiveness. My guess is they changed the sensors when they changed the locations for a reason.

I don't think the LS2 knock sensors will work in the valley cover. It'll probably stick up too high.

Would it be okay to drill and tap the lower section of the block where they are located on the LS2 instead?
