Default 6.2L 6.0L HO Engine swaps

Hey guys,

So I have an 06 Silverado z71 extended cab, that's the L33 engine, but recently I've been looking into the idea of doing a swap. The truck has about 94xxx on it, and I've been reading around about doing the LQ9 and the L92 swaps.

So, how hard are they? People say that it's pretty much plug and play, is it? Is my 4L60E trans alright for that?

Anyone know a rough estimate of a price for one from a junkyard?

What about the computer? Do I need a new one, or can I just have mine tuned?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks guys.

Your ecm just needs to be tuned and you want to run a cam thats geared towards the l92 heads your will hold for a little while but you will need to build it or replace with something stronger

Also if it has 58 tooth gear you will to run the lingenfelter signal converter to 24 and with the l92 heads you have to run the right intake manifold

I'm new to this, so what do you mean that my heads will only last a little while? Also my father is a mechanic so he'll probably know about that 58 tooth gear and converter, but he's not here currently. What do you mean by that and the converter? I planned on just junkyard shopping for complete blocks. Thanks for the help

The LQ4 and LQ9 6.0 Will swap right in place of your old L33. You will only need a tune.

The L92 Is a whole different ball game. It will Bolt up but will require a few adapter harness's. You will need a complete pull out engine. Parts like the intake manifold won't interchange. I believe you will need an X link for the electric throttle body on the L92 to work in the older truck.

The only person that I know of on here that has successfully done it, re wired the truck to make the Newer style computer work with the older truck.

Well that's good to hear about the LQ9, thank you so much. It seems so difficult to find the information about these swaps, but for the 6.2 I planned on purchasing the entire engine. So I don't think I need to worry about interchanging parts? I'm not sure, but in doing the L92 you're saying I would have to buy the computer from the new model vehicles?

Also just to clarify since you know what you're talking about, my transmission doesn't have to be touched in this? Nothing reinforced or swapped to the 4l80e?

Thanks again bud!

How much are you budgeting for the swap, and what are your goals? The L33 is a good platform to start with. For the price of a 6.2 swap, you could purchase a used power adder, and go faster.

6.2 will swap right in but you need x link for the throttle body and you will need to get lingenfelter 58 to 24 singnal converter that all you need when I was talking about longevity I was talking about your 4l60e back to engine you will just those two adapters and a good tune to make itrun well
