Default 6.2 6l80e swap 99-06

I have a 04 Silverado that was procharged and now I’m wanting to go with a 6.2 and 6l80e, I was wondering what all will be needed for the swap?

Everything, pretty much.

Engine, transmission, wiring harness, fuse block and all that jazz. Nothing can really be kept from your truck and nothing else will function like factory either. The newer trucks use can-bus for all the electronics and your truck doesn't. So your dash, warning lights etc etc will no longer function like they do now.

If you don't care about that stuff and want to run something else for your speedo/gauges, the swap can be done.

I'd like to throw my peas into this pod, and please understand that this is all HIGHLY speculative.

If you ran 2 PCMs I think you can do this. I got this idea from the Cummins swap guys.

Stock PCM runs gauges with some splicing of wires or stand alone sensors (coolant temp, oil pressure, crank position)

The tach signal is what sucks. The Cummins guys run a 24x LS reluctor on their crank pulley and a GM crank sensor on a bracket to get the factory tach to work

I think VSS is a non issue from the 6L80

Then you run the E38/ TCM as a stand alone, and with some janky **** and some redneck engineering you have a swap! Don't forget your heat shrink and soldering iron

Now keep in mind this is speculation. And I am interpolating expected results based on engine swaps I've recently researched

a guy on the PT facebook page has done this swap with a 6spd.

he said you need a 58x enginhe, 6L80E, 2009 TBSS computer, and a custom harness from Speartech or Current performance. And he was able to make it work like factory.

his name is Abe Neufeld

You should be able to run it on a factory PCM with the 58X to 24X box and standalone 6L80 controller.
