Default 2015 GMC A/T 5.3 to 6.2 swap

Seen a few threads discussing this but none that have actually done it. 2015 GMC Sierra A/T with a 5.3 & 6L80. From looking @ a 2018 with a 6.2 it appears identical. I would leave the 6L80 and just swap the 6.2 in. I assume it would run with the 5.3 tune until I could get it to a shop for tuning? I would like to hear from those that have actually pulled this off. I would hold out until I found a 6.2 from a 2014-18 Silver ado or Sierra.

Great choice! My thought is have it towed and get it tuned or have a 6.2 tune to load if you have software. I am no tuner but I'm really afraid it would be way way too lean. Wouldn't chance it.

It'd run it, adjustments in fuel for a 6.2 are easy enough, just buy an HPTuners setup. You can also just load a 6.2 file that way too.

I've been debating this option as well considering the price of some of these supercharger kits. Yea they're relatively easy to throw in compared to a motor swap... but they cost at least twice as much.

Most threads I've read seem to die off and I haven't seen much to read from anybody that's actually gone through with it. Really eager to know if it's a drop in affair so long as you leave the 6L80 in there. Would be badass to have one in the RCSB. Probably could get satisfactory power with minor mods and keep the reliability of not going into forced induction.

Yes, it’s a plug and play swap...all you need is a tune...
