Engine swap necessary?

Engine swap necessary?
I have had an ongoing want to do a supercharger, cam and exhaust on my truck. its a 2009 silverado crew cab 2wd, 6l80e, 5.3L.
i see that everyone and there brother swaps to a 6.2 or some other engine.
I know that it IS NOT necessary to do it but at the same time how much is it worth it? chances are if i got a new block i would go stupid with it and probably bore it up a size or two and dump way more into it than i should. would it be worth doing a stock 6.2 and throwing a SC on it or would it be more worth it to step up the 6.2 and go all out?
being that its a heavy truck is it that the larger 6.2 puts down more torque lower and thats why most swap?
and hell if im going to go all out with a 6.2 why not throw a 383 stroker in it instead?
i need to start putting together a list of everything i need to do and things i should do while im at it so i will start with this question and then try to find another thread on here that can help with the build list of parts.

well let me ask this way.. disregarding the price of the 6.2 engine, if i dropped 10k in both setups is one build going to kill the other in terms of performance?
not planning to drop 30k in it but a nice 15k or so maybe need to get a list together and see. much cheaper than a new truck!

10k into a 5.3 would make less power than 10k into a 6.2 if they used the same parts. The engine with more displacement always has the edge on power.
I'd slap a TVS on a 5.3 in a heartbeat if that was what I wanted to do. It's far less down time, super easy swap and either way you look at it, it's going to make good power regardless. If you wanted to add in a cam or headers that's just extra icing on the cake.

I'd do a cam, headers, blower. Wait until you mess up the 5.3 and then swap it. It happens...Then you'll have more experience on what not to do. Gonna be fun and I agree. Don't buy a new one mod the old one!

okay, like the other guy mentioned i know there is no replacement for displacement. just trying to make sure im not cheating myself out of anything crazy like 200+ hp/tq by staying with the 5.3 when i could dump the same money in either engine.
i will get a parts list together and either post back here or make a new thread and see what i am missing or if i shouldnt do something.
