Default 6.0L swap

I have a 03 gmc truck with a 5.3L and i wanting to do a 6.0 swap. I need some answers on what year truck i need to get the motor from and if that even matters. Also is there any mods that i will have to do for the 6.0 to bolt up? Thanks for your help!!

i've read plenty of stuff on all that myself. I agree it's been beaten to death, but a question that isn't asked so much is:

What should I look for when looking for an engine? Will most junk yards let me do a compression test or anything of that sort. I also I'll just need the bottom end correct? Everything should swap over.

Thanks

everything should work just fine, accessories, and everything will work just perfect. If you go through a good QRP salvage yard, most of them have already run compression/oil psi tests before sell them.
