6.0L motor performance
#1
I wanted to get some comments good or bad on the following setup. I have a chevy silverado with 5.3 and 4l60E transmission. I am swapping the 5.3L for a 6.0L motor with the GM Hotcam and stage 2 TEA heads. I now have a K&N Filter and ASM Headers with a flowmaster catback. Any comments on this setup.

Should be a stout set-up. Which 6.0L are you swaping in? The H.O. 6.0L with its higher compression will definately help the HotCam.
Plan on getting a converter to maximize this combo if you are looking for best ETs and for low RPM drivability...It tends to buck at low rpm cruising unless you have reprogramed the drivetrain along with the engine management system.
What valvetrain are you running with the HotCam and TEA heads?
Let us know how she performs...

oxidizr,
I will be running the H.O. 6.0L with the higher compression. What drivetrain and what torque converter do you recommend in this setup. I also plan to get my computer reprogramed by Ed Wright.

tell us more about your truck, ext cab? short box? 4wd? do you ever need to tow and if so how much? is your goal to get the best ET you can. what kind of time scheduel are you looking at?
i am very interested in how your truck runs, a heads and cam 6.0 with 10-1 compresion, exhaust and a stall should run prety hard. i would go with at least a yank3000 but if you don't tow something a little higher would probably get you better ET's. tell us all about your truck.

Parish8,
I have a 2001 Chevy silverado, Reg Cab, short box, 2wd. I only tow a small boat, and a small trailer to pull my 4wheeler. I should have this project finished by the end of Dec. I would appreciate any ideas you have on this project.

as far as i am concerend you are doing it right, you have the right truck, the right engine, the best headers, uping the compresion and heads and cam will be bad ***. some kind of converter is a must but i can't say wich would be the best one. i like my 3000, but next time i would go higher, at least a 3200, it will still tow 4000lbs.
probably some 411 in the rear with a real posi, some kind of fuel pump upgrade and a 125shot in the future. YEA!! i like to figure things out so for me ls1edit is way better than ed wright, that is the only thing that i would do diferently. get that thing going, i cant wait to see what it will do.

Parish8,
Will ls1 edit work with this setup( it was a 5.3L motor and 5.3L computer before swap) or will I need to get a 6.0L computer and then use Ls1 edit with it. What are your thoughts on this issue.

The PCM is the same on all models. The program loaded on it will be different for each year and option. Your 5.3 PCM will work fine with LS1 edit for your 6.0 swap.

I would recommend a Precision Industries Vigilante 3200 and a 4.10 gear...as Parish8 says a posi is a must. Your stock pump should be good and LS1edit would definately compliment your swap.
