6.0l build help
#1
I have a 6.0L block and crank, but i plan on keeping it n/a, so its the lq4 pistons i want right? and are the connecting rods the same between the lq4 & lq9? which is better the lq9 or lq4 cam for this application or just buy aftermarket? and i dont know jack about the heads for these motors so suggestions there would be nice. thanks

If you're keeping it n/a and going with factory pistons, I'd go with LQ9's since they are flat tops and will allow for more compression. Earlier LQ9's had better rods than earlier LQ4's, but around 05 or something like that both LQ4's and 9's got the same LQ9 rods. As for heads, I know that WCCH has a nice StageII 317 that they offer (I have these for my eventual LQ9 build), but I've been seeing alot of different head casting options mentioned in the Internal Engine section, and I'm not 100% sure what it optimal for what application.

Id just bump compression and put a meaty cam in it and your done. If your on a budget just keep stock rods or even get some LQ9s or like Bud said 05+. I dont think your gonna spin the motor past 6300 so dont worry about that.

thanks for the deal man, but im still putting alot of this in play, and i actually have a stock pair of lq9 pistons, now just got to get some rods and some heads, so which is the better head the 317's or 243's? and what cam should i run? if i use my intake and stuff off my 4.8 for awhile will that be ok too?

also i do have a set of ls1 heads, i know they probably wouldnt perform as well as others but it would save me some money, would they work well? and keep a higher compression?
