It's not the HP that will be the death of the 60e in the end. It's the increased torque combined with the weight of the rig. Is it possible to build a 60e that can handle it? Of course but the cost far exceeds the coin involved in the swap to a decent 80e all considered.

When you run a 60E you need to run a flexplate for a 60E which has a dish to it. I bought some SFI $100 speed shop no name special for my 05 because the Circle D converter I have in my 4L80E has a 60 front on it. I am no fan of the 4L80e..... it's a heavy power sapping tank with a shoddy first gear... even with my 3600 converter its still a sack lol. Holds up though so you can give it that....but is very much a dump truck transmission. I have had 80e equipped trucks in my life for 15 years now... so I am pretty used to it lol. My 04 is a project with a forged 370 and a TVS 2300 on it.... I am looking into dumping it's 4L80E for a 6L90E which with the stand alones available now should allow it to be done.

Yeah I already had a 4l60e core so I went with my original plan. Met with my transmission guy yesterday and here is a list of what will be done to it.
New clutches
New seals
New soleniods
Wide racing band
Beast sun shell and input drum
Pump stator
Z pack
Transgo shift kit
We'll see what happens!

I know a guy who has a set of 243's for sale and am most likely going to get them. Does anybody have an opinion on whether to get them hand ported or just leave them alone? Anybody hved the before and after results and could say it is worth it
