Awesome work on the engine build man, you did a killer job and that truck seems like 2 full buckets of fun. I love it

Thanks man! I hope the motor lives a long healthy life until I can afford a forged 370 or 408. I'm blown away with how fast it feels My buddy has a 93 RX7 with a single turbo and we kinda started the builds at the same time years ago and every year we are very similar in power to weight ratios. This year I think we are both ready to race I don't think hes got a chance having driven both.

Finally got time to get the truck running and driving again tonight with the full exhaust on so I could hear myself think. Drove for about 5 minutes and pulled over to do a leak down check. Popped the hood and a bit of fog/steam/smoke came out. Noticed the catch can seemed to be letting out more than normal amount of steam I think. The video makes it look blue but in person it looked white and didn't smell much like oil or fuel just steam like condensation burning off since its been sitting a month or 2. Also pulled oil fill cap off and it's coming out if there equally aggressively.

I'm worried I broke a ring land when the fuel pump cutoff at WOT and 4500rpm a couple months ago due to the bad ground.

Tell me what you think?

I've never ran a car vented to atmosphere so I'm not sure what the "normal" amount should be. I always expected there to be some smoke/vapor coming out, especially after a hit or two... but I dunno.

Ill get a better video today in the daylight it seems to be a little better today or the daylight hides it. I drove it to work today and it made it just fine but I'm still skeptical. Maybe its the virus that's got me worried

Here we go heres a video in the daylight. Also tried to show that theres absolutely no smoke from the exhaust cutout. I think the night time with a flash light made it look much more serious. Still going to pull plugs and do compression test.

Good to know that's not excessive on a healthy motor startup.

However mine has gotten substantially worse after the drive home. Never took it over 3k rpm and never hit boost but it began to smoke worse and worse out of the exhaust. By the time I made it home I had fogged all the mosquitos in my neighborhood. Oil pressure also seemed to drop lower than normal. Down to just under 20psi at idle and regular driving was 35ish. Before it was nearly 40 at idle and 55-60 normal driving. The exhaust is completely full of soot and it smokes bad enough it's not safe to drive. However it sounds fine, idles steady and revs freely without an issue. I can still drive it just fine. Oil on the dipstick looks fine and doesn't appear to be losing much if any. Coolant looks clear and dexcoolish. No ticks, knocks, clicks, slaps or squeals it sounds like a very happy motor if you close your eyes.

Going to do leak down compression test soon but anybody care to throw a guess out? I will post a good long video ASAP.

yeah, i remember folks unnecessarily freaking out with the LLY or LBZ duramaxes when they only saw 20-25psi on the oil... granted that was by design with a new high-volume, low-pressure pump they used, and that was the normal pressure.

different story when it used to be 55-60 & now almost half that. hope you get it sorted out.
my LS1 smokes some out the oil cap breather at idle... but it's also a stock bottom pushing close to 800 at the crank, so mine could very well be blowing by (granted, the oil pressure stays fine & the exhaust don't smoke).
