Go long tubes. Not many people on this site run shorties for a reason and most people on this site are putting down some impressive numbers. Also like mentioned previously 400rwhp out of a LM7 (5.3l) will require more than $1000 and likely be bottle or force fed. (nitrous or turbo, supercharger)

Wow lol...

To the OP, First step would be to decide what your over all power goal will be and plan accordingly.
If your goal is 400rwhp than that cam may possibly get you there with proper supporting mods but really isn't the best choice. If your goal is higher you would be wasting money on a cam that would never get you there. The best bang for the buck would be a better cam and tune with a free flowing exhaust.
Post your long term goals so that we can offer you a specific hitlist of items.

What is this power chip that is listed in your signature? Also ditch the TB spacer and sell it on ebay, put the proceeds to future mods.

The ACD Chip he's got listed is 3 resistors in a fancy box that goes between the MAF and MAF Harness. AKA a joke (A bad one too). ACD actually calls the MAF an Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor (my word, I thought that was what Honda called their linear O2S)

Basically, I would HIGHLY recommend that ed01sierra takes NO further advice from whomever is suckering him into wasting his money. You just don't go for dual 76mm when you're using a (pointless) resistor mod that your O2S are negating anyway. Learn more, spend less.

TL;DR--- ed01sierra is gullible

Seriously tho, listen to everyone else... don't go with shorties. From what i understand shorties offer about as much gain as stock manifolds.

If I had $1,000 to spend, since I'm already custom tuned, have long tubes, & exhaust...

I'd either beef up my tranny for the future or cam & stall at the same time.

"Cheap" and "Big Difference" ain't happening. Stick with whatever you've got already, as it's cheap and it makes a big difference when you have them.

You've heard it already- $1000 isn't going to get you terribly far unless you put a decent cam in. Anything else, plan to spend $2-5 grand on to make big differences. Heads really don't matter as much if you're planning on boosting it, exhaust really doesn't matter if your planning on boosting it (why pay money for something you're taking off anyway?). Save your money, do your research and spend it where you need to spend it.

If you're going with boost, save for some forged rods and pistons.
