I believe any cam & lifters will work as long as they are for an LS motor. Basically what I did to kinda school myself on the subject is to read thru every thread that's in the ballpark.

As far as SS guages, ebay will be your best bet.

well it all perty easy all ls base motor the parts are inter changeable ,4.8L, 5.3L , 6.0L ,LS1 ,LS2, so when you look for parts you can look for them by ls1 parts , but if you want to be a little faster, cam it and tune it i always say its a little more over stock but enough to smoke the sh*t out of a lot of trucks and sport cars! as far as what cam stick around , if your a 5.3 with no stall i would recommend the tsp220 or voodoo 212/218, and if your going to run a stall i would say the tsp 224, IMO!

I am by no means an expert on it, but basically, it just puts you in your power range sooner. I haven't installed mine yet(circle d 3200) but say when you take off from a start, you'll be more in your power range when you start moving. Instead of it starting to move at 1500RPM, you'll be closer to 2500RPM when you start moving. That's the way I understand it. It also keeps your RPMs from dropping a lot between shifts.
a torque converter with a higher stall = higher trans temps. If you do get a higher stall converter, you need to also buy a larger trans cooler, specifically a TruCool 40K cooler.

Main thing to do is just pay attention to the threads, read as many as you can and you'll learn a lot. Don't be afraid to ask questions. There will be some that will immediately fire back with a reply that says to search. A lot of the guys here that really know their stuff are very helpful.

I was talking to my dad about all this this morning and talking about the stall. And he informed me that since i do hunt with my truck and goes in mud some that i didnt need a stall and a good cam which pulls strongest from low thru midrange

Depending on what stall you get depends on stall speed. Some are set up loose and some are tight. I have a Yank SST 3200 and mine gets moving about 1500 rpm. A circle d 3200 may not get moving till over 2k or closer to 3. Depends on the brand. Best thing to do is ask around IMO.
