Default 5.3 crank in a 4.8, What Happens??

If the 4.8 flat pistons are used, does anyone know what compression and displacement comes out to? Has anyone done this?

4.8 has different rods and the pistons have different pin heights I don't think the 5.3 crank will work with 4.8 rods and pistons.Just buy aftermarket pistons if you want to raise the compression a lot.

So the piston/rods are totally incompatible with that crank? I was just thinking of an inexpensive way to raise displacement but it would be nice to boost the compression a little.

Hey, JMProductions, sorry to change the topic here but how do you like that Lunati cam? Is that their part # 55002? I have the 55001 (not installed yet). Thanks!

Yes the 55002 is correct, I like the cam a lot. It has a relatively low lift (.510) for the duration and I figured it would work ok on the 4.8 with stock valve springs. Good upper band increase and an unexpectedly lopey idle.

I believe that the crank is the only difference between the 4.8 and 5.3. I could be wrong, but I think that's the only diff.
