Talking 4l80e/6.0 runs great!!

got mostly good news, the tranny works great, doesn't seem to have any issues at all. the 6.0 runs good, knocked for a few minutes but that is probably normal for a motor just out of storage. stock exhaust fit fine, stock shifter cable works fine, didn't even need to adjust it.

the good news is it runs great, very much like stock, that stall is really mild. it runs so well in fact i think spear tech may have put the 6.0 programing in there too. one thing that is definately diferent and makes me think that is it has a delay into power enrichment, it was instant before.

not so great but somewhat expected news... it's not rediculasly fast, it is a little quicker and will completly blow the tires off anywhere under 20mph but once it hooks it's not crazy fast or anything. the 4wd system will need to be messed with to work at all, without all of those conectors pluged into the autotrac it wont engauge the front. i have 2 choices there, just put a switch on it to engauge the front diferential or get an autotrack that fits a 4l80e.

i am hoping for alot with tuning, the delayed PE cant help, makes me think of KR. the speedo is WAY off, like 1/2 where it should be, that can't help. the shifts are soo soft it makes me sad.

i will be making up some kind of post about everything i needed to do to get the 4l80e to work but i have to say it wasn't all that hard. if anyone plan's on a max effort kind of project it would make sence to step up to an 80 and just forget about the 60

good news..

post up the results with the g-tech in comparison to your former motor.

Some spray runs would be interesting as well....but take it one step at a time..

I dont know if it would be beneficial to you or not, but you may want to consider using the front axle setup that the SS has. the front axle will always be engaged, but then you wouldnt have to worry about switches or anything, and you will have a solid 1 piece axle on both sides instead of a 2 piece on the passenger side. Its just an idea that i thought i might throw your way to help you out.

How does your transfer case shift?? is it with a lever, or was it electronic?

i had an autotrack, the new one from the HD is manual and i have no lever. i hope to upgrade to a 2500 front diferential some day.

the first thing i am going to try is just leave the transfer case in 4hi and hook up a switch to the front diferential. with the autotrack the front driveshft always spins anyways, seems like this would work and cost me nothing and gives me the strongest transfer case. if there is a problem with that set up i may look for an autotrack for the 2500 but it is rated at 1/2 of the torque of the manual one i have.

Way to go! Now, get the bugs worked out and get a couple power adders on there!

Great news. Its not supposed to be blinding fast. Just think, you have a stock exhaust and manifolds, who knows what kind of intake, you blew up your original MAF, and its still a fat 4WD. Do you really have any bolt ons yet? Probably not. It should run like its almost stock, except that it makes maybe 20 more HP and 40 ft pounds of torque than it did before. It should respond real well to bolt ons and your power adders now.

I'd like to get your opinion on that converter when everythings running right.

Any luck with getting Edit?
