Default 4 bolt throttle body w/ intake swap & local Socal tuner, HP Tuners

When swapping intakes/TB's on a Gen 3 engine, is the X-Link adapter the ONLY option when changing to the later model 4 bolt 87mm throttle body? Is there any other way such as thru a custom tune or something? I'm in the end stages of a 6.0 swap in a Tahoe and looking at an intake swap in the near future. For the time being, I have to keep the original 5.3 intake due to return lines and my rig being a FlexFuel vehicle, which I want to keep that ability.

Anyone have recommendations or referrals for local to Socal, Orange County or Inland Empire preferred, tune shops or guy that does it from home? I was going to try LSDroid self tuning, but don't want the learning curve and just want to get this Tahoe on the road. Thanks.

At one time I was running a X-link to control my LS2 90mm but it failed and I switched to a spear tech unit which worked fine and I am currently using it on my Nick Williams 102mm

Thanks for the info. So there are different adapters available, whether it be Xlink, Spear tech, etc. I didn't know about the other mfg. Is some sort of adapter always required to make this swap? I have to get a custom tune to accommodate other changes, and is the TB difference something that can be dealt with just by the tune as well, or is the adapter a required hard part? I see there is a wire count difference between the original 3 bolt TB and the 4 bolt TB, 8 vs 6 wire but can that be overcome by changing TB pig tails and the custom ECU tune handles the rest of it? Hope that makes sense.

the spear tech harness is a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter. All that is needed is to replace the TAC module to a 2002 unit. That is all.
