Gears do help. Mine has 4.30's and with my boat hooked up (19ft VIP Ski Boat) I could squeal my 17's from a light and get some serious 2nd gear scratch as well.
Raced a Buick LaSabre with the boat hooked up cuz I hit the gas too hard and the 17's screamed real loud. He heard em and nails the gas so I figured What the hell?
I had already let out and had to get back into it and still kept him from pulling on me.

wouldn't 110+4 lope like a 114 or so? He wants a heavy lope to it.

well we installed a 210/216 @ 110 in david's 4.8 a few weeks ago, it has a pretty decent lope to it... The more positive the overlap the more it lopes, but that also shifts the power band higher...

BTW, i am no expert, just going off what i have read and see from various cams in my truck...
