You really won't be picking up any torque if you use the 4.8 crank. That longer stroke crank will give you more torque down low.

can a 4.8/5.3 block be bores to a 4" bore? if it can you could use 6.0 pistons and 4.8 crank

These engines rev pretty quick anyway, so unless you're building for a specific race series with a cubic engine rule, I'd probably just stick to the stock 6.0 internal dimensions. Would be cool to see though, especially if you put an L92 top end on it.
Actually FWIW there is a very early 4.8/5.3 block that can be bored out to a 4 inch bore. The differrence is, it has a 6.0 cast above the 4.8/5.3 mark. I has been done by a few shops and is documented. Unfortunitly there very hard to find and W2W has since gone under. W2W and Lignenfelter are the only 2 Shops I know of that have done it to one of those rare blocks.

As far as the 1st question, use the 4.8 pistons on and the 5.3L crank and rods. You will have an Iron L33 Wich is the high performance 5.3L

Yes sir! Look in the how to build performance LS engines book, there is a picture of the block and it even mentions doing it in there. Wheel 2 Wheel is the shop that did it. Unfortunitly they have since gone under.

I am not at home right now so I can get any pictures from the book.
