317 heads on a 5.3

Default 317 heads on a 5.3
k guys got what i think is a decent deal on some 317 6.0 heads complete 60k miles. i am going to put these on my 5.3 with 100k suggestions?warnings?

you'll lower your compression if you put these on

Yes, you'll have low low compression...the 317's have 72cc combustion chambers

above response = it's going to drive like a old dog.

Unless you are FI forget about the 317's. You can find some decent deals on 799/243 heads and mill them a bit to keep your CR.

When I was at the Englishtown swap meet I must have seen at least 5 sets of 243 heads and I wasn't even looking...one set was in a TrickFlow bags and box...wonder what he pulled those off for

241 are another good option, but 317s are gonna put your compression in the 8s

241 are not worth it. same head wit few cc bigger chamber. 243/799 if he is gonna go with a stock head

What heads do you have now? Might be worth it just to have yours worked over. If the 317s are cheap enough, buy and resell them
