4.8 and a cam?
#1
Ok, so I'm checking out the board here and like everything people prefer different mods. So here is my question. Getting a 4.8 here soon and was looking at getting a TR220 to put in it. But I see that people are putting in smaller cams because they loose low end power with larger cams?
Then I see people putting in LS6 cams?
For a truck that will see lots of highway, little or no towing/hauling and some weekend track time would it be best to go with the LS6, the TR220 or a different small cam?
4.8 / 5 speed / 3:73s (No cam till LTs installed)
Thanks for opinions

Its all up to you man what you would prefer, the tr220 ive heard is a great cam however for highway miles you might want to go with something a little smaller. Thats what i did i have a thread all about it. Some guys have put in lots of input its in gm exhaust and performance under ls6 cam. Imo i would go something just a bit smaller then tr220

I wouldn't go through the time/effort of installing an LS6 cam into your truck. I'd look at either some smaller duration Isky cams like a 210/216 or the like, which have some great looking lobes IMHO, or a smaller duration Comp Cam, a la 212/218 low lift or perhaps a 216/220 if you're feeling frisky. Too much cam and you're gonna take away any and all semblance of low-end that a 4.8 has.
