That is a rather large exhaust for any NA gas engine. You wont even find many mustangs, camaros, vettes, transams, or other cars running more than a 3" exuast.

For a NA 5.3 motor, even with alot of mods, 3" will be perfect. Even 2.5 inch will be a good options for a basic bolt on 5.3.

IMO 3.5/4 inch exhaust should be left for full out race cars, and diesels.....

I doubt 4" exhaust helped your ET at all.

Vettes run dual 2.5" pipe up to dual 3" pipe. Fbody's usually run 3" for bolt ons cars, but ones who see alot of track time run dual 3".

I'm just not a believer that a 3.5 or 4" pipe will kill your bottom end much. The guy I built the exhaust for had a piece of 3" pipe in place of the muffler and the rest of the stock system. He went from that to a full 4" catback and the truck came to life. It seems to run much better and sounds alot quieter with the big pipe.

I wanna see where single 3.5" or 4" pipe hurts low-end power. Hell it doesn't really matter at all if you have a higher RPM convetor in there...

same here. i guess there's a hell of alot of 6.0's running around with no bottom end because GM put too big of exhaust on them

6l exhaust is dual 2-3/4" ID, When I was running without a muffler and now with the A/C dual 2.5 in / Single 3 out, I cannot tell a difference bottom end. You can put a vert in, and that will take care of the low end loss everyone but me has experinced. This was all measured and recorded with my highly accurate butt meter.

I've had plenty of buddys throw "way too big" exhaust on their rides (under 400 hp at the flywheel but have 3" duals) and not one ever complained of lost bottem-end...
