Just to clarify some of the info in this thread, the 1500HD does not share the same frame as the 2500HD. The 1500HD frame is the same from wheel to wheel as the 2500HD, but from the rear wheel back and from the front wheel forward, the frame necks down from roughly 8 inches to roughly 6. From the wheels forward the frame is more similar to a standard 1500 than a 2500HD, although it still differs from both and is its own unit.

For the purpose of the thread...... it's identical where it matters. I never once said they are exactly the same and get f'ing tired of constantly explaining over and over and over the differences...... But there is always that guy.....

The chassis of the 1500HD is identical until where it necks over the rear axle..... there is a welded joint where the transistion from 8" down to 6" thus lowering the bed 2" on the 1500HD and along with the lower cab mounts you get your lower truck.... the front is identical to a 2500HD. If you don't believe...... well too bad, because I own one lol. The body mounts are different yes, hence the 2500HD having a 2" body lift over the light duty 2500 and afforementioned 1500HD. The RPO for said lift is HVY.

Here is an old thread where guys took pics and hashed out the differences for anyone that actually cares.

Sounds like you've got your info nailed down better than me, I guess I'm wrong about the front on the frame. I've got both a 1500HD and a regular 1500, but never sat and looked at them side by side for the purpose of verifying the front portion of the frame. For my own curiosity, I'll take a look tonight.

I got sick of the wrong parts constantly as I always got half ton junk that wasn't remotely close. Then I just dug into it because no one seemed to know the differences. I had a 2500HD and my 1500HD together so I measured them and figured it out lol.

I know what you mean about that. Its got to the point that if I have someone looking up parts for the truck, I just refer to it as a 2500HD.

The more I think back to the last time I did chassis work up front the more I think I remember the front part of the frame being the same size as 2500HD, like you said.
