A well setup lsx block could do 1200hp with a big turbo at the wheels pretty easily.

ok I think in your original question you also should have put reliable!!!

You could get a pretty built motor and slap a huge turbo and some nitrous to make it hit close to those numbers, but not more than a couple times

Later
1200rwhp + 100K + 0-100 in seconds does not = 10.5 in the 1/4 mile. Not even close. I am sure that Jim didnt even use all hit 1000rwhp to run 10.0X......I am calling it

guys, i am not sure the calculation in which it would take to get these trucks in the 10's.....but it aint 1,000. its the right setup and weight transfer, a little weight reduction here and there, and some good slicks. i think 600-700 rwhp would get 10's fairly easily.

on that note, i have a friend with a 2002 RCSB sierra that runs 10's all day, and he DD his truck. i cant ever talk him into joining this site, i think he joined long ago but didnt seem to like it. he is running a 408 with some dope, a TH400 tranny and Ford 9" rear, with 3.70 gears. i have been in the truck, driven it, and watched it turn 6.89 n/a and 6.19 on the gas... in the 1/8th mile of course. i think he is deep in the 10's in the 1/4, and he posted a video of his 6.19 and 6.18 run on youtube.

it seems 1000 rwhp would go high 8's or low 9's if it could be hooked from a truck.

i did use all 1000hp to run a low 10. use the calculators and see what it takes to make 5000lbs run 10.0 at 137 and you will see it come up with 1000hp. you can argue what 1000rwhp on a dynojet really means, some say what you see at the wheels on one of those is really closer to the fwhp numbers.

i was pulling 1.5x 60's and was not going full power till after the shift. 2wd with the right suspension and tires could go full throttle right off the bat and knock some decent ET off of my best time.

i believe you, at 5K lbs, and only full throttle after the 1-2 shift. i am not sure what my friends truck weighs.... but i know mine weighs 4506 without me in it, and his has a bit of weight reduction, with draglight wheels and i think the TH400 tranny would be lighter than the 60e.... i know he hooks hard off the line, i wanna say his converter is around 4000+....he pulls the left front tire a good bit off the line.

i can see if he will tell me the link to that youtube video if ya'll would like. i think his truck is making around 650 rwhp+ on the gas...not sure what it makes n/a...it moves out though.

gm now sells a ls block that will handle 2000+hp and it isn't even all that expensive.
