Default 04 z71 fuel filter location?

Does anyone know the location of the fuel filter on the 04 trucks. It is not mounted on the frame rail under the driver side cab, like the older models trucks. I found the fuel pump, it is mounted outside of the fuel tank. There is a box/tray that the fuel lines go in & out of next to the fuel tank - hard to see what is in it. It shows to be held together by one bolt. I sure would appreciate any help you can give me.

The whole thing is in the tank. The pump, strainer, filter, and regulator are all in one "fuel pump module" inside the tank.

I took mine apart to do the changeover for my Radix install. To actually pay somebody by the hour to take that thing apart, it's easier to just sell the whole module. Parts man at the local Chevy dealer says they sell tons of them, because of problems with the pump itself. It's about a $500 item to buy outright at the dealer.

The only way to change the filter is to drop the tank, and remove the fuel pump module. That's on 04 and newer because of the returnless fuel system.

I remember reading about this a couple years ago, and I believe it was supposedly a safety design thing. Probably more about saving $ in actuality though.
We were all bitching about it back then for these exact reason.
