power aside, i am now looking at having my tranny torn apart AGAIN due to loosing 3rd and 4th gear. the last time it was from all the teeth that holds the retaing ring (that holds the clutches in) in the input drum shearing off completely and i am guessing it did the same thing again. it only had about 3k miles on it the first time and now it doesn't even have 500 on it. am i the only one that has had this problem or did the shop screw something up twice? i could see burning clutches but not this. any ideas anyone?

I feel your pain! 4 Trannies here! Sounds like the shop may need to pay attention to detail on yours.......

Sorry to hear about your trans

Only been through one with that problem. So far the rebuilt tranny is holding up.

Maybe it's time to step up to a 4L80E and see what it takes to break that.

thanks for the sentiment guys, but, i am looking for some kind of reason for what causes this to happen. the shop will blame it on my motor but i am calling bullshit. 500 miles or less? please!! are they doing something wrong? i can only guess that too much line pressure would cause it. it has a transgo kit and i am running the stock pressure tables.

they might have the epc turned up to high and once you turn it up there is no turning it back down.
this was the problem i was having with my other trans shop.
damn idiots didnt knoew what they where doing.
finally bit the bullit after 9 transmissions, and took it elswheres where i found out that there was stuff that was sopposed to be in there.
I was told that they had installed a transgo Hd shift kit, when the other trans shop tore it apart there was no transgo in there.
so thtas where i am now gathering up my parts and evidance to take them to court.
If you can talk to another shop that builds hotrod transmissions. and get their opinion.
this is what i had to do.
apparantly something is not right.
unless your putting out over 500HP.
these 4L60E's wont handle much more over that.
