The Yukon NVG4500 Manual Transmission Swap Thread
#112
So I have everything done. Started up my truck and I can’t shift it into gear while the truck is running. I have the pedal all the way to the ground. Brand new slave, master, and clutch kit. I shifts into gear flawless while turned off. Any ideas? Shims? I haven’t seen many adjustable masters for a truck.

You can bleed all you want but more than likely you will either need to do the hack that Axe Kick did or install a new master like I did. GM part number 24242325.
If you already do have the new master installed then try gravity bleeding or using a mitty vac.

There is not a picture with that number when I search it. So I attached the one I bought, it was brand new. So if you don’t think it’s the master then I’m left with his hack or gravity bleed.

Been picking up a lot of gear oil smell in the suv. Only when going down the highway and with the windows down. I took part the console and found out the shifter stub seal and boot for the core shifter were broken!! I don't know if this is a common issue but they dont have more than 5k miles on them.
I also did some fiberglass work today and came up with a console lid that lets you use the stock core shifter handle. It looks ok but it needs a gauge. If I cut a hole for the gauge it might remove too much material from the fiberglass work though? We will see. It's just a mock up.

Meh. The shifter is OK. I am not sure if I would get it again. It throws pretty easy and looks pretty cool. There are actually 3 versions of the shifter because there are 3 different lids for the nvg4500. you have to read up on the website and pay attention or you will order the wrong one. my first one had the longer stub and didn't fit.

I have one the Hurst Core shifters on my NV4500. The trans is a '95 and it's in my '84 K10. I love it, it shifts like a muscle car now. Plus it looks waaayyyyy better than the meatball of the factory shifter.
