Honestly I've never driven a well built and tuned auto trans so I have no idea what a good 4L80 feels like. However everyone on this forum seems to love their 4l80s the swap seems pretty easy and i know they hold power well.

If you ever get the chance to drive a RCSB with a factory manual trans (NV3500) then you will have a pretty good idea of how the NV4500 feels. I love mine and wouldn't consider going to an auto but I really love sticks

Actually I could go drive a Manuel dodge at our farm to try it out but I think I will go with the 4l80e also don’t want to fill up this form anymore.

Pin D - Take from Pin 1 on PNRDL
Pin E - Take from Pin 12 on PNRDL
Pin F - Goes to PCM Blue 35

Edit, it looks like my wire colors differ from this, but I assume the pin locations are the same.
You could use an ignition powered hot leg from the NSS. Just remember that if you or someone else is troubleshooting something years down the road it might trip them up if they are going off the factory diag. EG: A fuse is blowing for something that isn't supposed to be on that circuit.

PS just finished my 3000+ mile road trip on the atomic bracket and worked really good in all of the bumper to bumper traffic.

I have 4.10s right now but after some simple calculations I think I'm going to go to 3.08s. I'll be able to use all the gears like that. 1st will be just a little lower than with the 4L60 and 4.10s and 5th with be higher than 4th was. So I'll be able to launch, and putter around on the highway. It'll still be fine for towing.

5th with 3.08s would be awesome for low rpm on the highway!

be just over 1700rpm @ 75mph, running 33s. not the worst but probably pretty doggy without a blower or big block torque

It's true. 3.23s might be a little better but I think 1st might be a little short for 3.42s. It's too bad, cause 3.42s are so common I think someone would give me some.

I think I am doggy under 70 mph in 5th gear with 3.42s but it could be the cam I have.

The gears seem steep till you have a trailer. Then I use all of them and they are fine.

How big are your tires? That 408 should be plenty torquey! I am starting to think 3.42s might be a better choice for me. I think that would make 1st gear useable for me. I don't mind if it's doggy in 5th on the highway. I can just put it in 3rd
