crawled under my truck today to grease all my pivot points, and the boots on both of my upper ball joints are busted. went to auto zone and advanced auto parts, and the guys at both places told me i have to buy the upper control arms with the ball joints already pressed in. they do not offer just the ball joints. also, they could not find part numbers for control arm bushings either.i didnt think this sounded right, so i dint ask a price. anyone else ever hear the same thing?

However, they do sell just the ball joints. Moog makes tons of different types of ball joints and that is who most people go with.
Call the dealer and ask for a part number then get them off gmpartsdirect or something.
Also why does it matter that your grease boots are busted? Just put some grease on them every few months or so and you won't have problems. My boots have been busted since 2004 and I have yet to have problems with them. *Knocks Wood*

. the boot is busted wide open, and the joint was bone dry. i pumped grease in it until it was oozing out, and the squeak didnt go away.

Tip on price.
Find a comparable part at another store with the same warrenty and in stock status, even if it is a questionable brand. Then have Oreillys price match them for the good moog parts. I have done that on ball joints for a late 90s GMC Jimmy and I think it save me around $15 each.
