Truetrac for front AND rear?
#12
Well, the truetrac is going in today. I cant wait to give it a try. I think the next step will probably be caltracs, before I get to the centerlines and slightly wider rear tires.

One or two companies makes traction aids for the 7.25" front diff, and the 9.25" front diff, but not for the 8.25". The problem is, the front ifs set up is not very strong, so putting a locker up front will usually lead to a catastrophic failure out on the trail, which is generally worse than having to winch through a difficult section.
Also for the most part if you are worried about smoking 4 tires instead of 3 you are probably in the hp range that a properly set up chassis in 2wd will give you a better 60' than 4wd.

Thanks guys. I've given up on the front diff, after reading your comments here.
I am just putting in the rear diff, and I am only using this on pavement.
I was a bit frustrated during the winter when I couldnt get much traction. I have to wait one more day to take the truck out. Patience is NOT my strong suit.

Truetrac is finally in (the rear!). Driving conditions were a bit wet today, but it felt a lot better. I am squealing both tires now and will probably be looking at caltracs for my next mod. one step at a time, i guess.
