THE Tru-Cool 40K GVW Transmission Cooler Install Thread
#171
Sorry, I'm somewhat confused on the stock lines that run into the radiator also. First off, how do you remove these lines? Should I even remove them? I have SS hose running to the transmission so these lines are just dangling under the truck right now. If anybody could clarify this a little more for me I would really appreciate it.
Thanks

I guess unhooking the lines is my confusion. I am not using them for the installation since I ran braided stainless hose all the way from the tranny to the cooler. So I currently have the radiator lines still hooked up at the radiator, but dangling in the back of the truck. I tried unhooking them from the radiator, but couldnt figure it out. Maybe it's something super easy and I'm just being stupid, but I kept looking and couldn't get it.

They are held in my E clips. You need a small flathead to POP them out then just pull the line straight out. Watch out because they go flying. Don't try unbolting the fitting, you'll crack the rad.

Just wanted to check back in and say thanks again for the help. I got the original hardlines out this evening and feel kind of stupid for even having to ask how to remove them. They were super easy! Now I don't have to worry about the damn things dangling around while I'm driving..

I too read the entire post. Most informative I must say!
I live here in the Northern part of the Mid-Atlantic where temps. soar to the 90's in summer and get quite cold in the winter @ 20-30 degrees.
I'm preparing to install the CD 278mm 3000 convertor, Hypertech 180 degree thermostadt and Dearle +2 qt. trans pan with temp. gauge in my '00 Silverado.
I already have the TransGo HD2 kit and Sonnax billet servos installed. Tires are 32" and gearing is 4.56. Trans is 4l60e.
Would I be better off to bypass the radiator all together or plumb the Tru Cool 40K in series with the return line to the trans?
If I bypass the radiator all together, There's no need to plug the trans cooling line in and out fittings @ the radiator?
I didn't really see where this was discussed, (I don't think), other than I recall someone said to just leave them open. If I wanted to plug them, what would I use?
Thanks for the feedback. I want to get this right.
