Do not use more than ONE washer!

My 4L60E's first gear just went bye-bye less than an hour ago (story behind that ). Using ONE washer in the 1-2 accumulator should be plenty. Two washers will give you a nice, chirpy 1-2 shift, but I think a 2-1 downshift is extremely detrimental with two or more (ask me how I know). Instructions are simple. Take your time, and you'll be fine.

Shouldn't take more than a day to get it done... give yourself more than one day if you haven't done this before (start to finish).

You can get the Dex fluid from any parts store (or Wally World). It doesn't have to have a GM logo on the bottle. Six (6) quarts should do if the TC's full. I was pretty close with six. Look at the fluid to see that there are no metal shavings or anything to deal with. As long as the fluid is a transparent color of red (not dark red), then you're good to go. You can get the trans pan gasket & filter fairly cheap. Why use the same filter? You are planning on replacing the gasket, right?
